  • Cladding Repaircladding repair image
Replacement metal is delivered via wire feed or powder feed and matched to laser power delivered to melt the added metal and the surface of the component at the same time. This produces not only a build-up but a full metallurgical fusion of all materials upon solidification. Fiber delivered CW and Super Modulated YAG lasers are most often used for these systems
  • Drilling & Cutting Combustor Liners & Cansdrilling and cutting example
Laser drilling requires very high peak power and good beam quality from the laser. At least 10kW peak power is needed for most high quality laser drilling and even higher peak power is necessary for larger diameter or deeper penetration drilling.
  • Honeycomb WeldingHoneycomb welding example
Honeycomb is fabricated from thin alloys such as Inconel, Hastelloy, titanium and aluminum. Despite these alloys having high melting point, laser spot welding has no trouble creating high speed spot welds and producing very strong joints. Pulsed YAG lasers produce the necessary pulse energy and discreet pulses for spot welding honeycomb
  • Welding Turbine ComponentsWedling Turbine example
These parts are fabricated from alloys such as Inconel, Hastelloy, MARM and Haynes. Laser welding is much faster with no braze furnace cycle and minimal tooling. Both JK Pulsed and Super Modulated CW Nd:YAG laser systems are a solution.
